Is Hikawadai a good area to stay in Tokyo?
Yes, if you want to stay where Tokyoites actually live. Two officially registered shotengai sit at the station — Hikawadai Ekimae Shotengai (56 members) and Hikawadai Shotengai, trading since 1957 — plus a Summit supermarket about 120 m from the station and a 24-hour Seven-Eleven under 100 m from it. Nights are quiet, yet Ikebukuro is about 8 minutes away.
Getting around
Hikawadai Station is served by the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line (Y05) and Fukutoshin Line (F05), so trains run direct in both directions. Approximate times: Ikebukuro about 8 minutes, Shinjuku-sanchome about 14 minutes, Shibuya about 20 minutes on the Fukutoshin Line, Iidabashi about 20 minutes on the Yurakucho Line, and Yokohama/Minatomirai about 53 minutes on the Fukutoshin through-service. Haneda Airport is about 58 minutes via Ikebukuro; Narita about 1 hour 16 minutes via Ikebukuro and the Skyliner.

Honest limitations
Kaza 105 is on the ground floor, so there are no stairs to climb and no elevator to wait for. The hosts live nearby and can help by phone or message, and will meet guests at Hikawadai Station when their schedule permits. Guests do occasionally get off at Sakuradai instead of Hikawadai — message us for a map pin — and the Japanese air conditioner takes a few minutes to make a difference after you turn it on. There is no parking on the premises, though there is coin parking nearby; we cannot store luggage after checkout; and smoking, pets and parties are not permitted.
